오토 링크(Otto Link) 하드러버 피스 안에 “S, P, 1, 2” 등의 글자가 각인된 피스

얼리바빗형 피스라고 하면서, 피스 안쪽에 J자, S 자가 각인되어 있다고 하는것은 정확하게 필기체 아라비아 숫자 1 , 2 라고 쓰여진 것을 잘못 해석하고 있는 것이고, 오리지날 얼리바빗 피스에는 그런 표시가 없다. 숫자 1,2의 표시는 피스를 찍어낼때 쓰인 금형의 표식기호일 뿐이다.

진짜 얼리바빗은 안쪽에 S, J 자 등이 적혀져 있지 않으며, 적혀 있는건, 얼리바빗이 나온 이후인,

1980년대 이후에 제작된 좀 오래된 톤엣지 피스이며, 판매자 중 일부는 이를 얼리바빗형 피스라고도 하는데,이 용어는

 유일하게 우리나라에서만 몇몇 호사가들에 의해 통용되는 유행어이고, 외국에선 전혀 존재하지 않는 단어이다. 그러니까, 얼리바빗이란 단어를 자의적으로 빌려다 쓴  사기성이 짙은 표현에 불과하다. 즉, 얼리바빗의 사돈네 팔촌도 아닌, 얼리바빗하고는 아무 상관도 없는, 좀 오래 사용한 그냥 프라스틱 피스인것이다. 이 글을 본 사람들은 그 피스를 팔거나 접할땐, 그냥 좀 된 톤엣지피스이며, 가격은 주는대로 받겠다고 하시길...

 

 

즉, 진짜 얼리바빗 피스는 피스 내부에 아무런 글자도 새겨져 있지 않으며, 그런 글자가 새겨져있다는건 스스로 얼리바빗 피스가 아니다라는 강력한 물증이 되는 셈이다.(아래의 미국 색퀘스트사에 필자가 보냈던 그 답변을 참조할것)

피스 안쪽에 새겨진 글자가 'J'자 각인(실제는 숫자 1), 'S'자 각인(실제는 숫자 2)는 대략 10만원대 중후반에 거래되며,  'J'자 각인(실제는 숫자 1)보다 'S'자 각인(실제는 숫자 2) 이 더 좋다며 1~2만원 더 비싸게 내놓고 있다.

최근에 나온 신형은 안쪽에 각인이 없고, 중고가 10여만원에 거래.

윗입술에서 등쪽으로 올라가는 곳 꺾이는 각도가 거의 90도 정도 되는 얼리바빗이라 하면서 50만원 이상을 요구하기도 한다.

I am learning a saxophone in south Korea.

I have a qustiong about OTTO LINK HARD RUBBER tone edge MOUTHPIECE  produced at the factory of  EARLY BABBITT in USA

 from 1974 to 1979.

Has it  produced engraving the letters,such as  “S, P, 1, 2” inside of the piece?

Many people In Korea say that the piece engraved such letters is not  OTTO LINK HARD RUBBER EARLY BABBITT tone edge MOUTHPIECE,

but Super tone master MOUTHPIECE produced since 1980s, and the letters inside are the simple indication of product line.

Some people mentioned that it has been produced at the factory of EARLY BABBITT from 1974 to 1979. 

I am wondering which story is right.

I will appreciate you so greatly if you let me know.

The true definition of an "Early Babbitt" is a piece made after the move to the Babbitt factory,

but on the existing Florida molds from Pompano Beach plant.

There is not regular engraving or stamping inside the mouthpiece to designate where or when the Otto Link mouthpieces were made.

The only way to truly tell an Early Babbitt Tone Edge mouthpiece is compare it to a Florida vintage Slant.

It will have the same 90 degree slope on the beak as the earlier Florida vintage Slant mouthpieces.

All the stamping is different, otherwise the pieces are the same dimensions. The same is true for the metal Super Tone Master mouthpieces, the stamping may be different but physically they are the same dimensions from Early Babbitt to Florida.I hope that helps, let me know if you have any other questions.

1974~1979년 사이에 미국의 EARLY BABBITT공장에서 생산된 얼리바빗 하드러버피스의 안 쪽엔 어떤 글자나 표식도 없었다는 내용이다..

 

 

죽, 피스안쪽에 “S, P, 1, 2” 등의 글자가 각인된것이 얼리바빗형피스이다,,라는것은, 얼리바빗피스가 절대 아니란 뜻이다.
